Overview

Zaara completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Biological Chemistry at Nanyang Technological University in 2017. Her research work during her final year project involved synthesis of natural products and their analogues as well as analysing their therapeutic potential through conducting biological assays for pharmaceutical application. Her continued interest led her to embark on her PhD studies in Natural Product Chemistry where she further focused on the isolation, structural elucidation, analysing phylogeny and therapeutic potential of marine natural products by using metabolomic approach. Her rich research experience in organic chemistry, biological chemistry, medicinal chemistry and analytical chemistry during her PhD studies led her to author and co-author 8 research publications in peer-reviewed journals. She is currently involved in the drafting and prosecution of patent applications in the field of chemicals, pharmaceuticals, polymer materials and natural product chemistry.
