Overview
Sabrina advises local and international clients on securing strong patent protection for life sciences innovations, contributing across patent drafting and prosecution, patentability assessments, and long‑term patent strategy in the Chemical and Life Sciences team. Sabrina obtained her PhD in physiology at the University of Melbourne, where she also obtained a Bachelor of Biomedicine and a Master of Biomedical Science.
During her research career, Sabrina developed expertise in gastrointestinal physiology, neurobiology, and host-microbiota interactions. Her doctoral research examined how early-life antibiotic exposure influences the development and function of the gut microbiota and enteric nervous system, and the downstream effects on metabolism, the central nervous system, and behaviour in a sex-dependent manner. Her work spanned molecular, organ-level, and whole-animal systems, providing her with a strong foundation in understanding complex biological systems and their interactions.
She is currently undertaking a Master of Intellectual Property Law at the University of Melbourne and is working towards qualification as a registered Patent Attorney.
