Overview
Erica specialises in Chemical and Life Sciences innovations, with a professional focus on the drafting, prosecution, and strategic development of patent specifications. Based in Spruson & Ferguson’s Singapore patent team, Erica supports the protection of complex technologies through detailed technical and legal analysis.
In 2018, Erica graduated with a Bachelor of Science (First Class Honours) from King’s College London and a Master of Research (with Distinction) from Imperial College London in 2019.
In 2020, Erica worked as a Biotechnology Patent Specialist at a leading Japanese patent law firm. In this role, she was involved in handling patent applications across multiple jurisdictions in areas including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and bioprocessing systems. She also assisted in advising on patent invalidity and infringement matters in Japan.
Erica subsequently expanded her technical and analytical expertise as a Research Associate at a renowned national research institute in Japan, where she focused on investigating large language models for text-mining scientific literature and building knowledge graphs on diet-disease correlations. During her tenure, she also contributed to several peer-reviewed research publications.
